Rene Alvarez, who started working with Impact Politics in 2015, has been named a Partner, in addition to being Director of Digital. Nicole Franklin has been named President and will continue to oversee media buying.
Brian Franklin, who founded the firm and served as its President since 2007, will continue to serve as an advisor, strategist, and equity partner. Franklin recently co-founded and has been steering Vows & Speeches, a growing business in the wedding industry which provides assistance with custom vows, wedding speeches, and ceremony scripts.
“Rene’s done an amazing job handling the needs of our clients, and has increasingly taken on management of more and more aspects of the business. As I’ve focused much of my energies on Vows & Speeches, Rene’s been a star. It just makes sense to have him officially as a partner.” said Brian.
“Nicole, for her part, has been running not only all of our media buying, but all of the day to day operations. She’s already been our de-facto Acting-President, so now we’re just making it official in her title. Not surprisingly, the business has grown under her watch.”
Impact Politics comes off a cycle in which it helped produce major victories in Kentucky’s Supreme Court, New Mexico’s legislature, and in the Tallahassee, FL Mayor’s race. It is currently working on mayor’s races in Tennessee and Pennsylvania.
In previous years, Impact Politics served a critical role in the passage of both medical marijuana and the $15 minimum wage in Florida, as well as Nikki Fried’s 2018 win as Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture & Consumer Services—the first and only statewide win for Democrats in 20 years. In its early years, Impact Politics helped guide Patrick Murphy’s underdog victory over Tea Party leader Allen West and Congressman Robert Wexler’s nationwide push to Impeach Vice President Dick Cheney for lying about Iraq’s WMDs. They also helped start some of the Pew Charitable Trust’s early efforts into online advocacy advertising.
